What is the correct format for the Title Reference for a Property Title Search?
Title References should only contain alphanumeric characters, spaces, hyphens (-) and forward slashes (/). Please check the Title Reference you entered has only valid characters.
Spaces should not be entered at the beginning or at the end of a Title Reference, if they are the system will remove them when the Title Reference is saved.
Title References are formatted differently across different States and Territories. The table below documents accepted Title Reference formats with examples that associated States and Territories use:

Key Takeaways
- Volume and Folio: Common across most states (VIC, NSW, SA, TAS, WA, VIC).
- Lot on Plan: Common in QLD and NT.
- Block/Section/Division: Unique to ACT.
- States like QLD and WA may include prefixes like RP, SP, or DP to denote plan types.
- Always refer to the specific land registry for the most accurate and up-to-date formats.
- Some Lot/Plan numbers have letter suffixes which can be omitted and still used to obtain a Title Reference
- For a Title Reference for TAS to be correctly validated, the Lot and Plan number need to be inverted. E.g 149650/14 should be formatted as 14/149560. Please note that any letter prefix needs to be stripped out for TAS.
