Client View allows you to provide trustees and investors with read-only access to their own up to date investment and SMSF data. It is also mobile optimised, allowing your clients to quickly view their investment income, performance, valuations, asset allocation and more from their laptop, tablet or mobile phone.
Client View can also be accessed by Administrators so that you can see the same view as your clients and can make meetings more engaging. When you’re ready, you can simply invite your new clients to have secure access to their data. You can also use white labels in Class, to make sure that client view, plus the access invitations you send to your clients, look and feel just like your own brand.

Powered by Class
When you log in to Client View you will notice a Powered by Class logo. We have added this because Class is mentioned in a number of aspects of the system and is required to do so from authority forms through to sending client invites in a secure way. Given the necessary visibility of the Class brand, we feel it is important to provide information on who Class is and the role we play as your technology partner.
Client View and the invite process displays a ‘Powered by Class’ logo along with a short summary of the role we play. Your brand is key, and the primary focus at all points. During our research, we noticed numerous Class clients who have prepared their own summary of our partnership and the role we play in delivering your technology solution. Via the summary and a new dedicated web page that can be accessed by clicking on the Class logo, we are aiming to streamline the message that you are currently sharing with your client base.
What Devices can Client View be used on?
As a cloud application, client view can be accessed via a browser on desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones.

As Client View is mobile optimised, the display will automatically adjust to a given device's screen size. This also means that on mobile phones the amount of information shown will be reduced for a superior mobile experience. Desktops and tablets will always show the complete set of information available.
Our team is currently working on a brand-new Class Client portal, which will include a new mobile app that will be compatible with both Apple and Android devices. Stay tuned for updates!
The mobile version of Client View is accessible on Apple phones, however note that Client View is not supported on iPads using Private Mode.
Client View for Consolidated Portfolios
Consolidated portfolios are visible in the portfolio list of Client view, and can be identified on the Structure column by the type Consolidated. Below is an example screenshot:
Client View - Home
The home screen is a dashboard of the portfolio and displays a snapshot of the following (where applicable):
- A valuation graph and the current value of the Portfolio
- contributions made, measured against the applicable contribution cap
- pension payments made, measured against the (aggregated) minimum for the financial year
- top and bottom investment performers this financial year
- overall asset allocation
- summary of recent bank transactions
Client View - Valuation
The Valuation Screen provides detailed information on the value of a client's portfolio over a specified period of time.
The Investment Valuation Graph is interactive and it allows the user to view the market value for an investment portfolio each day over time.
Investment Valuation
A variety of chart types are available along with the ability to breakdown the valuation by market type, asset class, asset pool and holding reference.
The Investment Valuation Graph and table can be printed as a PDF by simply clicking on the PDF button:
Estimated Yield / Income
- The Estimated Yield is the sum of dividends/ distributions that have been 'declared' in the preceding 12 months / preceding day closing price
- The Estimated Income is the sum of dividends/ distributions that have been declared in the preceding 12 months x number of units currently held
- You can opt to show or hide the Estimated Income and Estimated Yield and the Income declared but not paid from the investment valuation report through the business level menu via White Labels
- To set business level estimated default yield, please refer to section Business Defaults
Income declared but not paid
Class will automatically determine investments that have gone ex-dividend and will reflect it as Income Declared But Not Paid as at the date of the report. This will be the sum of any dividends that have been declared but have yet to be paid
Unsettled trades
Where securities have been purchased but not yet settled, Class will add the unsettled trade amount in the valuation table. At the match to cash date, the unpaid cash adjustment will drop off and be offset by the amount of reduction in the bank account.
Client View - Bank
The Bank Accounts screen allows an investor to view bank account transactions by selecting each bank account from the drop down box.
The transactions displayed defaults to the current financial year but can be modified by the investor by selecting alternative dates in the Date range and clicking Refresh.
On this screen, a client can:
- View bank account transactions for each bank set up in Class by choosing from the available list in the drop-down menu.
- View matched and unmatched cash transactions by selecting the appropriate tabs.
- Select the period they wish to view transactions for, using the Date range filter option
Client view - Contributions
The Contribution Caps screen provides a summary of contributions made by each member to the SMSF in a financial year and compares these amounts to the applicable caps.
The contributions page displays the following:
- how a member is tracking against their contribution caps for a particular year
- unmatched deposits (this enables action to be taken to classify the deposit)
- a breakdown of contributions processed (by type)
- the ability to:
- apply the bring forward rule
- view prior-year contributions (if applicable)
- recognise contributions from other funds
There must be an accumulation balance for this screen to display
Contributions summary
Provides an overall snapshot of current and previous year contributions for each member of the fund.
Total Superannuation Balance
This section appears when the selected financial period is 2017-18 or onward. It provides an overall snapshot of the member's total superannuation balance as at the previous 30 June of the selected financial year.
An adviser or a trustee/member, who has been given access to the fund through Adviser Dashboard or client view, can update a member's external superannuation balances that are outside of the SMSF.
In the below example, apart from having an SMSF, Sophie is also a member of an industry fund with accumulation balances of $300,000 as of 30 June 2017. The $300,000 needs to be recorded so that her total superannuation balance is correctly reflected.
To record the $300,000, select the financial year 2017-18, click Edit and the Edit Contributions Summary will open, then record the amount in the external total superannuation balance section as shown below:

Client view - Pensions
The Pensions screen shows details relating to the required and actual pension payments made within a financial year.
If a member has a pension, the Pension Withdrawal Limits will show how a member is tracking against their pension withdrawal limits for the given financial year.
This feature consists of an overall Fund tab to show how the fund is tracking overall, as well as tabs for each pension member in the fund.
Additionally, there is a bar chart, for each member, that aggregates their pensions, and shows how their payments are progressing against the (aggregated) minimum pension payment required for the financial year.
The example below shows the member's aggregated pension accounts for the 2015/16 financial year. Anthony has taken $500,000 during the year. This is above his minimum and planned pension, as identified in their pension review:
If Anthony had not taken his minimum pension payment the screen would display in red to show that the member is still below their minimum.
Client view - Performance
The Performance screen provides information on the investment return of a client's portfolio over a period of time. The information displayed can be exported to PDF and CSV.
Performance Graph
Functionality includes:
- The Time-Weighted Return method is used. This method enables the overall portfolio performance to be graphed and enables comparisons against benchmark indices.
- adding a comparison line to the graph for a variety of ASX indexes using the Compare To drop-down list. This will be shown on the graph and in the Time Weighted Performance Return table below.
- the graph can also be broken down by Market Type, Asset Pool and Feed by selecting from the Breakdown By drop-down list.
Performance Tables

The Investment Returns table displays the breakdown of how your portfolio performed during the specified period, using the Simple Dietz (Variant) calculation method.
The Time Weighted Performance Return displays the Time Weighted portfolio return, and the return of any selected index.
- Taxable Income including franking credit of Stapled Securities and Unit Trust
- Income declared but not paid
Time Weighted Return
The Time Weighted Return uses the following formula to calculate the investment performance:
The TWR eliminates the timing effect that external portfolio cash flows have on returns. When calculating TWR, daily portfolio valuations are needed whenever there is an external cash flow, such as a deposit or a withdrawal.
Parameters
- CV = Closing Valuation
- OV = Opening Valuation
- NCF = Net cash flow received at the period end
Assumptions
- Net Cash Flows are deemed to occur at the end of the period.
- Calculation of the return is done on a daily basis.
- The daily return values are then compounded over the period selected.
Fund, investment and member expenses are excluded from the calculation.
The benefits of the time weighted return calculation are:
- it enables the performance of the portfolio to be captured, independent of the flow of money into and out of the portfolio
- it enables the investment portfolio to be compared against industry benchmarks

Client View - Details
The Details screen allows your client to view the basic portfolio and SMSF information as appropriate. All the information on this screen is read-only meaning that any updates required must currently be completed in Class.
