In this article, you will learn how to import assets into a Depreciation Worksheet using a csv template provided in Class. You will learn:
It is recommended to utilise this method of setting up a Depreciation Worksheet when you have five or more assets to add to the Depreciation Worksheet.
Downloading the csv Template
Navigate to Fund Level > Investments > Depreciation Worksheet
- Select the property
- Select the Export button
You can download either a blank csv template or one that is pre-filled. This is useful if you need to move a Depreciation Worksheet e.g. if moving the entity to another Class business.
Completing the csv Template

- Code (this is a unique identifier for each fixed asset under the property)
- Property Code (this is the holding code of the property, you can find this in the Browse Holding Accounts screen)
- Description (free text field, description of the asset)
- Purchase Date (this is the date the capital item was purchased)
- Purchase Cost (this is the initial gross cost to purchase the asset)
- Opening Written Down Value ("Purchase Cost" less "Accumulated Depreciation" at year-end).
- Depreciation Method (Options "DiminishingValue", "PrimeCost", "LowValuePoolFirstYear", "LowValuePoolFullYear" or "NotApplicable" must be entered the way it is shown here)
- Depreciation Rate (This is the rate applied)
- Depreciation Type (Options "CapitalAllowance", "CapitalWorksDeduction", "NotApplicable" must be entered the way it is shown here)

Uploading the csv Template
Navigate to Fund Level > Investments > Depreciation Worksheet
- Select the property
- Select the Import button
Once the file has been loaded, ensure there is nil 'Residual Book Cost' (i.e. it must equal to $0). If you still have a value ensure that you have entered an asset for the non-depreciable component e.g. land and record the remaining residual against this asset.
