Overview
The VMR Secure FTP Direct Feed Upload allows clients to submit large volumes of electronic documents directly into the Virtual Mailroom (VMR) via a secure SFTP connection. This method is designed for high‑volume document ingestion and supports significantly larger batch sizes than email upload.
Requesting Access to Direct Feed
Access to the VMR Secure FTP direct feed must be requested through the Class Access Controller.
How to request access
The Class Access Controller must submit a request to load documents using direct feed method by emailing:
- support@class.com.au
- CC: vmr@class.com.au
After submitting the request, follow the updates provided by the Class Support team as they coordinate with the technology team to complete the required setup. Class Support will keep you informed of progress and, where required, will arrange a technical session between the Class technology team and your technology team to help complete the Secure FTP direct feed connection efficiently.
Information Provided by Class
Class will provide the following details to support the Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) connection:
- Hostname (Server Address) – The VMR SFTP server URL or IP address
- Dedicated User Account – A unique SFTP user account for secure access
- Port Number – Default SFTP port 22
- Upload Location – A designated upload folder linked to the provided account
Information Required from Clients
To complete the setup, the client is responsible for the following:
Security configuration
- SSH Key – Generate a public/private SSH key pair and provide the public key to Class
- Source IP Addresses – Confirm the IP addresses from which SFTP connections will originate
File transfer
- Once configuration is complete, files must be uploaded to the designated SFTP folder using the provided credentials
File Size and Volume Limits
Direct Feed ingestion supports:
- Up to 100,000 files per batch
- Batch sizes ranging from under 300 MB to over 200 GB
This makes Secure FTP Direct Feed suitable for large‑scale document ingestion.
What Happens After Direct Feed Upload
- Documents are ingested into VMR
- Each document is assigned a processing status
- Documents progress through Human in the Loop review
- Any import errors are clearly displayed within the VMR interface
- If files do not appear in VMR, fail to ingest, or display unexpected errors, please contact Class Support for investigation and assistance
VMR currently supports PDF and Word document formats only. Uploading unsupported file types such as PNG, JPEG, or CSV will result in an import error, which will be displayed as an error message within the Loaded or Classified views of the Documents Classified section. Support for additional file formats is planned for a future release. Documents in the Documents Classified and Human in the Loop states are retained for 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted.
