Reproduced below is an excerpt from an email from Macquarie to all of their Macquarie online Trading advisers.
As a Macquarie Online Trading adviser, you will have recently received notice from Macquarie regarding access to your Macquarie Online Trading service.
Previously, your Macquarie Online Trading account was offered to you through an arrangement with Bell Financial Group (Bell). This means that we, Bell, provide the services under the Macquarie brand.
As of the 22nd of February 2025, Macquarie Online Share Trading accounts are automatically transitioning to Desktop Broker, an online trading platform designed for advisers and their clients. Desktop Broker is a part of Bell Financial Group (Bell), which has been a leader in the Australian stockbroking industry since 1970.
Migration Steps
If the account is authorised by linking an account to an adviser as per the example below, you’ll need to login to Class to migrate those accounts. Detailed steps can be found below.
If the account is linked to an adviser i.e.
To initiate the migration please change the Product label from Macquarie Online Trading to Bell Direct
Note that the Adviser will be unlinked from the account.
There are 2 options available to re-establish connectivity for the account:
Option 1 - Continued Adviser authority
- Review the following user guide article and add the adviser's Bell Direct (Desktop Broker) adviser code. Entering Adviser Authorities in Class
- If you do not have the code for Bell Direct/Desktop Broker, please contact the adviser and request this.
- Please contact Class Support (details below) if you require a list of Macquarie Online Trading accounts and their current advisers.
- Once you obtain the adviser Bell Direct adviser code and have entered it into the Class user interface then link the account to the relevant adviser.
- Important Add a do not load before date of 21/2/2025 to prevent duplicate transactions.
- Once you note that the feed has been restated, please utilise the Request History button to load any missing post-migration data.
Option 2 -Change to Account holder authority
- Change the radio button from Adviser to Account Holder on the Fund Holding reference and click Save.
- Follow the User Guide process for account holder authorities https://support.class.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360001311816-Bell-Direct
- Important Add a do not load before date of 21/2/2025 to prevent duplicate transactions.
- Once you note that the feed has been restated, please utilise the https://support.class.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360001379896-Request-History-button to load any missing post-migration data.
Note: In some cases, the existing adviser codes for the Bell Direct may not be working for EX MOT accounts. Please check with the advisers to ensure the codes are up to date and that no changes have been made.
- Change the radio button from Adviser to Account Holder on the Fund Holding reference and click Save.

- Important Add a do not load before date of 21/2/2025 to prevent duplicate transactions.
- Once you note that the feed has been restated, please utilise the Request History button to load any missing post-migration data.
