Issue
A Member Verification Request (MVR) can fail or return an error for several reasons, most commonly incorrect or missing member details in Class, or an employer is not using the correct details.
Cause
Class automatically responds to an MVR, if information is missing in Class or incorrect then the MVR will error. MVR can fail if required fields in the MVR message are missing.
Resolution
Refer to the table below to identify the cause and resolve the issue.
| Issue | Resolution |
|---|---|
| Employer is not using the Class ESA | Provide the trustees with the Class ESA, smsfdataflow, so they can pass it on to the employer. All members are automatically registered for the Class ESA when the fund is loaded, and there is no cost to use it. |
| Fund is not active on Class | Load new funds onto Class in a timely manner and ensure the fund status is set to Active. |
| Tax File Number (TFN) is incorrect or missing in Class | Correct the TFN recorded in Class. If the employer provides a TFN in the MVR, it needs to be an exact match. If no TFN is provided, Class performs a secondary match based on the member's surname and date of birth instead. |
| Surname is not an exact match | Check the surname recorded in Class for maiden names, hyphens and typos, and correct it if needed. |
| Date of birth is incorrect | Correct the date of birth recorded in Class. If the employer holds an incorrect date of birth, ask them to correct it on their side. |
| Fund Australian Business Number (ABN) is incorrect | Confirm the ABN recorded in Class matches the fund's actual ABN, and correct it if needed. |
