The Pension Account Identifier is a number that is automatically assigned by Class to help identify the pension account for TBAR purposes. Class uses a numeric digit and arithmetic increment for the purposes of tracking the pension identifier. It will be uniquely assigned to each pension account created in Class.
The ATO refers to the account identifier as the account number on their Super transfer balance account report. Class uses the ATO naming convention on the TBAR declaration and refers to it as an account number on this form.
It is important that when you transition a fund from another system or another accountant to Class you use the same identifier that they previously used to report a TBAR record to the ATO. This will allow you to use Class functionality to report TBAR obligations, should ATO issue an excess transfer balance determination or communication authority on these pension accounts.
