How do I read the ELS Validation message for the return I just lodged?

Cause

ELS Validation or Transmission messages require a specific program to read them such as WordPad. The default app for opening .txt files may be Notepad on your computer and this will not open as a readable file.

Resolution

To resolve this issue you will need to change the default app/program for opening .txt files on your computer to WordPad. This will then open your ELS Validation or Transmission messages in a readable format.

1. Change the default option in your PC for opening .txt files to WordPad. Click here to see the steps
2. Find your validation message in your downloads folder, it will be called something like validation-report-123.txt
3. Right-click on this file
4. Select open with
5. Select choose another app/program
6. Select WordPad
7. Check the box that says always use this app to open .txt files
8. Click OK 

The next time you open a validation message in Class it will default to WordPad.
