Overview
In FY25, GDF has made quarterly distributions with the following ex-dates:
- 26/09/2024
- 30/12/2024
- 28/03/2025
- 27/06/2025
Each income payment includes 12.5% franked dividends.
Since Class only processes income splitting at the end of each financial year, the income for 26/09/2024, 30/12/2024, and 28/03/2025 will be generated as distribution events using a rate of 1.8 cents per unit (comprising 0.225 cents per unit dividend and 1.575 cents per unit distribution).
Class handles the income split for the 27/06/2025 income to reflect the portion of dividends paid in FY26 (the next financial year).
How to process in Class
For the earlier distribution income events (26/09/2024, 30/12/2024, and 28/03/2025):
- These distributions are fully assessable in FY25.
- Most clients have already generated these income events as total distributions in Class using the Generate Income function.
- The FY25 Tax Statement Template supports both the distribution and dividend components for these dates, as well as the distribution component for 27/06/2025.
If you have used Class’s Generate Income function to create income events for GDF, please review the 27/06/2025 income to ensure it is recorded correctly:
It should include a distribution event of 1.575 cents per unit.
- A separate dividend event of 0.225 cents per unit should be generated on 16/07/2025.
If the 27/06/2025 accounting date distribution and 16/07/2025 payment date dividend are not recorded correctly, please follow these steps:
- Unmatch the current 27/06/2025 GDF distribution from the cash transaction.
- Navigate to Transactions > Match Transactions in Class.
- Generate the income again using the Generate Income function.
- Re-generate the distribution and dividend components, ensuring the dividend has a payment date of 16/07/2025.
Once the income events are correctly recorded, you can rely on the FY25 Tax Statement Template to accurately report all income and dividend components for directly held GDF investments.
Important Note for Manually Processed Income Splits
If the income were not generated using Class’s Generate Income function, but were instead manually split into distributions and dividends for 26/09/2024, 30/12/2024, and 28/03/2025, please review the FY25 Tax Statement created by Class Tax Statement console carefully.
Since the FY25 Tax Statement Template already includes dividends for these three dates, you may need to remove the manually entered dividend components to ensure the statement ony reflects the distribution components.
