Is our data reliable?
For Special Purpose Financial Reporting and Investment Reporting:
Class sources market prices for listed securities from the ASX, managed fund data from IRESS (who also supply data to the market-leading XPLAN and COIN financial planning tools), the exchange rate (based on RBA rates) and foreign listed stocks from one of the leading market and financial data suppliers.
These end-of-day closes prices are also consistent with ATO's valuation principles, therefore may be used for special purposes financial reporting subject to the limitation described below.
Although the ASX, IRESS and foreign data supplier make best endeavours to supply timely and accurate data, all of them also include disclaimers about errors or omissions (ASX disclaimer). Managed Funds data is dependent on the Fund Managers supplying correct data to IRESS; the Fund Managers are not, typically, as reliable as listed entities are at supplying this data.
Class uses this data for performing valuations, unrealised gains, asset class reporting and other indicative reporting like that made available to members and planners on client view.
However, where there is a discrepancy between Class prices and actual prices sourced from the share/managed fund registry or actual provider statement, you should always use the registry and provider statement and override Class market data where required. See Browse Investments for how to override prices, asset allocations and other market data.
For Investment Decisions:
You should always seek more timely data (ideally real-time) from the source or stockbrokers when making investment decisions.
