In this article, you will learn how to create an asset strategy for an entity.
A documented investment strategy (also known as an asset strategy) is a legislative requirement for an SMSF and also useful to have documented for any other investor. This sets out the fund’s investment objectives and specifies the types of investments that can be made. It should be reviewed on a regular basis.
Navigate to Fund Level > Investments > Maintain Asset Strategy > Click Add
- Enter a Strategy Effective Date (This is the date from which your investment strategy takes effect)
- Enter a Strategy Name (Relates to the period of the asset strategy)
- Enter Min and Max Percentages for each asset class, according to the investment strategy.
- Enter Target percentages (Total must equal 100%)
The target percentage for an individual Asset Class must be greater than or equal to the Min percentage, and less than or equal to the Max percentage.
- Click Save.
A Strategy Minute/Resolution then becomes available for you to download.
Ensure Asset Strategy total Min is less than 100% and total Max is greater than or equal to 100%.
