In this article, we will introduce the bulk action toggle and explain how you can suspend and activate investments in the Browse Holding Accounts screen. Specifically, it will cover:
- Benefits of suspending investments
- Suspending investments in bulk
- Suspending a single investment
- Activating investments
In this video we will demonstrate how you can bulk suspend and bulk activate investments accounts:
Please note you will need to have read/write permission to the business code in order to view and access this bulk functionality.
Benefits of Suspending investments
Suspending investments at least annually will provide a number of benefits:
- Reduce the number of unlinked accounts displayed in the Feed Console, making it easier to identify genuine data feeds you can still activate
- Speed up loading time in the Browse Holding Accounts screen and in certain reports
Suspended investments are automatically reactivated by a broker/wrap data feed in the event that the entity buys the same investment in the future, so there is no disadvantage in suspending investments.
Suspending investments in bulk
You are now able to efficiently suspend investments for an entity in one go using the bulk actions. We recommend completing this once a year for each entity once you have finalised the entity on Class.
Navigate to Fund Level > Investments > Browse Holding Accounts
- Turn on the Toggle Switch - to enable bulk actions
- Select the checkboxes - next to investments you wish to suspend
- Click Apply - to suspend
As bank accounts can have a zero balance but still be open, we recommend you check and mark the account as closed first before suspending it. You will encounter a warning reminding you of this when trying to suspend all bank accounts.
- Once you click apply you a box will appear showing all the investments that can or can't be suspended. We recommend clicking suspend if there are some investments that can be suspended, even if you encounter warning or errors.
You won't be able to suspend investments that have unmatched parcels in the current year, to avoid this warning, you should try to suspend all zero balance investments at the end of the financial year, once the final period update has been completed.
- Untick the Show only zero balances to remove any warnings and to return to the default view
The default view in the Browse Holding Accounts screen will be to show all active investments including those with a zero balance that are not suspended. This makes it easier to identify when you have investments to suspend. You can choose to select Hide zero balances if you want to hide investments with a zero balance that are not yet suspended.
Suspending a single investment
You can still suspend a single investment without using the bulk action.
Navigate to Fund Level > Investments > Browse Holding Accounts
- On the right-hand side of each investment account, click on the icon
- Select Suspend Account
Activating investments in bulk
Navigate to Fund Level > Investments > Browse Holding Accounts
- Turn on the Toggle Switch - to enable bulk actions
- Select the checkboxes - next to investments you wish to activate
- Click Apply - to Activate
You can use this feature to active both pending investments and those that are currently suspended and you need to activate
