Welcome to March edition of FAQs!
In this update, we address several topics like Contribution Reserve strategy, Bulk Processing functionality, and one of the most common issues encountered when extracting data from the Excel Loader. Let’s explore each of these areas.
Contribution Reserve Strategy
A contribution reserve strategy in an SMSF permits a member to make a concessional contribution in June, claim the tax deduction in that same financial year, while having the contribution applied to the concessional contributions cap of the subsequent financial year.
Class has introduced enhanced functionality to ensure accurate and compliant reporting of Contribution Reserving / Unallocated Contribution strategies. The following help articles provide detailed guidance on the process within Class, including configuration, allocation procedures, and reporting requirements:

Bulk Processing
Did you know that Class offers Bulk Processing functionality for processes such as Generating Income, Corporate Actions, and more, designed to streamline workflows and significantly reduce time and effort?

Excel Fund loader - Data issue
One of the most frequently raised questions relates to data issues encountered when processing an Entity Transfer from Class to Class, particularly when using Excel loaders supplied by a previous accountant. Because Class’s Excel loaders are highly sensitive and include strict security protections, users may experience situations where no data appears or the file does not extract correctly unless the original zipped Fund Transfer Data file is handled properly.
To ensure the Excel loader functions as intended, the following steps must be completed:
- Save the zipped file to your local drive.
- Right-click on the File > Properties > Click Unblock in the Security section > Apply > Ok
- Right-click on the Zip File > Choose "Extract All"
- Choose the folder to store the unzipped file and click on Extract
Note: You must fully unzip the data file before attempting to open any Excel loaders - An unzipped folder with the same name will be created
- Open the Unzipped folder
- Open the Excel Loader within this folder.
- Once the Excel is open, click "Enable Editing" and "Enable Macro". Data will start populating into the Excel Loader.
These steps are also detailed along with image references in the Issue-with-no-data-in-the-excel-loaders help article.
